Recipient
for New Brunswick
Dr.
David Forgie has had a private practice in Rothesay, NB since
1979 as a Chiropractor and Nutritional Consultant. He has a weekly
wellness program on CHSJ TV for 7 years called "Nutrition
Break" He received his Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine in
1979 from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College: Toronto,
Ont. And his M.Sc 1984, University of Bridgeport, Connecticut
in Nutrition.
Here
is what a few of his patients have had to say.
After
eighty years of severe illness , many tests, hospitalization and
still no diagnosis, I was advised to seek help and asked my doctor
for a name. He gave me Dr. Forgie's name. I went to see him immediately,
which was lucky for me. He put me on a regiment of eating and
supplements, which I badly needed as I found out I was dying of
malnutrition. I am now happy and well and much indebted to Dr.
Forgie.

Dr.
Forgie has given us the confidence to take charge of our wellness
by having us demonstrate to ourselves the age-old idea that conscientious
nutrition is the key to human health. We are deeply indebted to
him for the great feeling of wellness that we experience each
and every day.
Al and Simone Geddry, Cambridge Narrows, N.B.
For
many years, my family have used and benefitted from chiropractic
and nutritional care to maintain our health. Dr. Forgie has guided
us in our goal by treating the person as a whole in a gentle and
non-invasive fashion. To equate the knowledge and health we have
acquired with a precious metal, Dr. Forgie, is worth his weight
in gold.
Sue Materniak, Quispamsis, N.B.
I suffered
my entire life with chronic depression, digestive orders and various
illness. Over the years I consulted with many doctors and alternative
health care practitioner. David Forgie was the only one who diagnosed
me and recommended the necessary changes. So long as I (eat the
foods I am supposed to), I remain symptom free. Working with David
Has liberated our family life: At home we have a code "Is
it DFA?" (David Forgie Approved) Lee Saunders, IMTA(Registered
Movement therapist & educator), Intervale, NB
David
Forgie is a grass-roots sort of person, a "source" resource.
He can heal pain in one part of the body by realizing its root
is in another part. He can disperse a myriad of health problems
by adjusting diet, a basic factor in ease or "dis-ease"
our bodies experience.
But
even more than that, he is a motivated and patient teacher, generous
with his time and knowledge, committed to helping us each understand
and attain our unique wellness potential.
Anne Hill, Quispamsis, NB
For
20 years or more, I suffered the ravages of arthritic pain, gastro-intestinal
order, uncomfortable weight gain, sleep deficiency and numbing
fatigue. I sought relief through all the conventional medical
and pharmaceutical providers with no success.
In
relatively recent times I turned to non-traditional, alternative
medical treatments provided by Dr. Forgie of Rothesay, N.B. Through
the careful elimination of foods which are toxic to my system,
a balancing program of food supplements (vitamins and minerals)
and Dr. Forgie's skillful analysis and monitoring of on going
changes in my body functions. I have experienced a complete elimination
of most symptoms and moderation of those related to congenital
joint damage; I work and walk pain free and enjoy a fine quality
of life.
I say
without reservation that none of this would have happened without
the intervention of Dr. Forgie and his application of non-traditional
medical treatment.

for Prince Edward Island
Dr.
Doug Carmody, Summerside, Prince Edward Island
Dr.
Doug Carmody is an internist and cardiac specialist practicing
within the East Prince Health Region. He is the father of two
active children and husband to a most supportive wife.. Dr. Carmody
is a founding member of AIM, the Association of Integrative Medicine
on Prince Edward Island. He is also actively involved in Behavioural
Medicine.
From
my perspective it is very apparent that Dr.Carmody has demonstrated
an openness towards many healing modalities and is a worthy candidate
for the Advocate Award.
I first
met Doug at a weekend workshop on the Shambala Meditation method.
As a cardiac doctor, he is most interested in assisting people
to prevent further illness and believes that early intervention
is paramount. Even though he is an accomplished surgeon it pains
him to see patients so far along that they need physical repair.
In the words of Thich Nhat Hanh from "Peace Is Every Step
The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday Life," he states;
"Instead
of acting as if we can dispose of parts of ourselves, we should
learn the art of transformation. We can transform our anger, for
example, into something more wholesome, like understanding. We
do not need surgery to remove our anger.... We have only to observe
it with love and attention...This is peacemaking."
Dr.
Carmody was also instrumental in assisting me in establishing
my complementary health practice including Reflexology, Therapeutic
Touch, Reiki Healing & Touch For Health. As a nurse working
within East Prince Health I had many questions about expanding
into this area of prevention which may have been frowned upon
by many in the traditional medical model. Doug never questioned
the practices I became registered with, he only offered me the
use of his offices to get started.
Dr.
Doug Carmody is being appreciated for his openness, honesty and
his passionate desire to assist people along their path to wellness,
whatever route they choose.
Thank
you Dr. Carmody
